KORY KENT

I live in rural north central Ohio and am 32 years old. I am an accountant by day and a musician otherwise. I’ve never been a politician and am beginning to think that this may be more of a badge of honor rather than something that may be counted against me.

I am fearful that the United States as we know it is slipping away quickly; and that I have to consider running for President so I don’t have to feel so helpless against the political turmoil that we will all be facing.

My platform will be simple:

1) Eliminate or severely reduce the income tax.

2) Take power away from the federal government, and give it back to the states.

That’s it. The state of Maryland can be run by the Church of England for all I care (as an example). I’m just saying that nothing like that should be running our entire country, because we’re not all members of the Church of England. We’re also not all pro-life, we’re not all for gay marriage, we’re not all for casino gambling, and we sure aren’t all for government-run health care.

I personally like the idea that Ohio has no casinos, but I can go to West Virginia if I feel like gambling. I like the idea that if I wanted to try government-run health care, I can move to Massachusetts. I like that if I support gay marriage, I can move to New Hampshire, and if I don’t, I can stay in Ohio. Why should the federal government be involved in any of this?

Otherwise, I’m just another person who got his head out of the sand. I still work to pay my mortgage and my bills. I still trust my family, my friends, my woman, my employer, my community, and little else. I believe that the American government does not have to resemble any other government in the world because having 50 mini-governments to choose from is much better than being forced to adhere to 1 large government.

I have traveled around the USA many times. I’ve visited England, Colombia, and Canada. I have worked in the accounting field for 7 years, warehousing for 5 years, and hold a bachelors degree from the University of Akron as an accounting major. I am fascinated by finance, economics, and political history.

I am not a fool, and refuse to be treated that way by our federal government. I am standing up now, because we are by no means guaranteed that we’ll get that chance later. We normally don’t know what we truly have until it is gone. I refuse to make that mistake in this case. Now is the time.
